Private messages at TheGoodBlogs

So we wanted to create a vibrant community of bloggers, but we didn't give anyone a way to reach each other. Duh! Unless you logged in every day, you didn't know someone wanted to join your community. Ok, so we're geeks with bad social skills, at least we're geeks with the power to change things!

We're pleased to announceTheGoodBlogs private messages.

What is it?

  • A private message is a message that is stored in our system
  • you must log in to view the message.
  • If you have private messages, we send you an email once a day to let you know and only if you have new messages.

WE DO NOT PUBLISH OR GIVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS TO ANYONE WHETHER THEY ARE MEMBERS OR NOT.

This is what the private message feature does.

  • It allows you to send a private messages to other members. (Still a little tough to find members to send messages to, but we're working it)
  • It sends you a a private message if someone wants to join your community or has added you to their community.

What if I don't want to receive private messages?

  • Simply log on and go to 'my account' and uncheck the 'Allow private messages setting'. Note that if you elect to not receive private message, you will not receive messages letting you someone wants to join your community or has added you to theirs. The default for all members is to receive private messages.

What if I want private messages but don't want to receive an email from TheGoodBlogs when I have private messages waiting to be read?

  • There are settings under 'my account' to a) never receive the email, b) receive one email a day if I have private messages, or c) receive an email every time you get a private message. The default is b) we think to receive one email a day IF you have private messages is not intrusive.

What is the notification of new messages setting.

  • If you are logged in and on TheGoodBlogs website, there will be a message box on every page letting you know until you have read the new messages.

How do you control spam?

  • Members who use this for the sole purpose of selling a service or a product will risk the immediate termination of their account. Let us know if this is being abused.
